This book is not only a fantastic read for 7-13 year-olds dealing with sibling potty training, first love crushes, and all things common to this sensitive age, but it is also liberally sprinkled throughout with satire; at modern , 21st century society: from multi-colored heads of hair, to mouth and body piercings, to spoiled, entitled kids, to junk food outlets. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: From her childhood in a small rural town reading by lamplight, to a teacher of primary-elementary school students, to a parent of two rambunctious sons, Geraldine Ryan-Lush has been telling, and writing stories virtually all her life. And she shows no sign of letting up. Her many books and stories for children and young adults include Jeremy Jeckles Hates Freckles, Hairs on Bears (French translation Poils Poils Et Repoils), Malcolm the Klutz, Malcolm and the Hamster Lady, Hannigan's Hand, Once When I Wasn't Looking, among many others. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Education) with a major in English Language/Literature , and her books are in schools and libraries all over the world. Her volume of poetry, Once When I Wasn't Looking, is also on collection in major universities in North America and overseas. Her stories spring from a quite vivid imagination, tempered with a keen sense of humour and flair for getting at the reality in kids' lives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Ed) from Memorial University and has been a classroom teacher and columnist for print newspapers and literary journals.
