Alessandra Brockman was probably one of the hardest characters to write for me. In the earlier books she was just too...too...too perfect. Stunningly beautiful, highly intelligent, successful, and well-liked, Al just seemed to have everything going for her. But when it came time to write her story I realized something--even Al had her own set of struggles and one of those was earning her success through her own merits, rather than superficial aspects such as beauty or the fact that she was the younger sister to two important members of the PAVAD division!
Seth...Seth is the bad boy, black sheep of the Lorcan brothers. To me, that made him the most obvious choice for Al's hero. How can a woman so close to perfect adjust to a man who was so far from perfect?
I hope you enjoy RUNNING as much as I enjoyed writing it. I loved delving into these characters and learning just what it was that made them so special, and I hope you'll love it, too!

Calle J. Brookes is the author of the PAVAD: FBI romantic suspense series and the Dardanos, Co. & Dardanos, Co: The Adrastos paranormal romance series'.
A television crime drama addict she spends her free time watching reruns, reading, sewing, drawing or painting. Her favorite shows are Criminal Minds, the Law & Orders, the NCIS series' and the CSI series'. She abhors Lifetime movies or anything too mushy or melodramatic.
C.J. has been an avid romance reader--especially romantic suspense--since the age of eleven when her grandmother gave her that first romance novel to read.
C.J. has been with her husband Cody for eleven years, and they have one preschool-aged daughter.

I may be a bit super critical...please take that as a compliment

While I love the PAVAD series, this book more so than the rest just felt a little rush. Kind of like watching a crime drama on TV: It is super entertaining, fun to enjoy, but at the end of the day the viewer needs to learn the crime, back story, character growth, and wrap up in too short of time. For instance, Nina's aside did nothing to move the story forward. It was almost like a prelude to a red herring tangent that then didn't go anywhere.
Okay, super-critical notes are done.
I really like Seth, more so than Sebastian (who I personally had a hard time connecting too) and Al's weirdly perfect character quirks of wanting the white picket fence and tough agent persona was great.
In the end, I am glad I bought this book and if you have already read and loved any of the other PAVAD books, BUY THIS. If this is your first foray into the CCU teams, start with another one since it would be more fleshed out (I don't want you too miss out of this great series).

Mystery/Romance

Having read all of Calle J. Brookes' previous PAVAD stories, I really was looking forward to the next one. Needless to say, she didn't disappoint me in any way.
The story is fast moving, as always, and has a case story in addition to the romance.
Needless to say, I am watching for the next one.

Can't Wait for the Next Version

I've never been one for reading 'series' they never tend to be as entertaining and enthralling as the first.
With that said, this is my second attempt at a novel series and I am thoroughly enjoying myself with this one. This is such a great read! I love the characters and that each of their backgrounds was strongly developed, I can honestly say there's not one (main) character that I have not liked. The mystery and intrigue mixed with the romance makes for a very entertaining read.
So far, my favs are Sebastian/Carrie, Malachi/Jules, & Dan/Little Doc.
Now I would love to read a follow-up book on how they're all coming along, w/o any PAVAD drama…well, not until the end; see how these unions and blended families are doing and are there any hurdles....there has to be, right?
I'd also like to see stories on Paige & Mick (he was hurt b4 & there's clearly something b/w these two—could be a cute story of the beauty & the beast ;)) and Bertram (hmmm...he sounds mysterious & intriguing—def a story there!)
Can’t wait for the next installment.
