So much fun to read!

The authors did a great job of describing both the history and the rules of many playground and neighborhood games. I used their work as a jumping off place for an insert into a summer concert brochure for our town's concerts on the lawn-I hope it will spark conversation among the attendees.....They certainly covered many, many games, but made my husband and I think of many more.

Good book for a referance

I am a beginner at running CNC machines and I do have a few "gaps" in my understanding, especially, on how the machine thinks and how the referance datums are read. I have not read it through, but have thumbed through it in preview and I like what I see, it covers a lot of the foundational techincal things needed to sucessfully operate a CNC machine and machine good parts.

Awesome book, but watch for Errata!

This is a decent book. I was runing Okuma VMC's and this book helped me pave the way to running 4th and 5th axis Fanuc Robodrills at a new shop. As I am learning new things at the new job I find myself returning to this book to re-educate myself and "bone-up" on various topics. There are some really impressive MACHINISTS at my new job and thanks to this book and my sincere desire to give this career everything I've got I've been learning a ton of stuff over the last 6 weeks. My only grip is that it needs a lot of editorial work. At my last shop my "mentor" and I sorted out some pretty bad errata. Need to clean up this edition and ADD A CD with a digital copy of the book like Smid's other classic "CNC Programming" which has helped me immensely in understanding things like Helical Interpolation amongst many other things. A-dios

Interesting tale for 9/11 "veterans"

If you've ever tried to explain to anybody why the official story of 9/11 doesn't hold water, and you've suffered sarcasm, disbelief, obstinacy, and/or insults as a result, well, don't feel too sorry for yourself: Jon Gold has had it worse! Plus, he gets it from both sides. He's out there taking crap from so-called "debunkers," which is to be expected, and also from fellow "9/11 Truthers," who can be a real cranky bunch of grumblers. So in addition to a generous helping of 9/11 related information, some of which you're almost guaranteed not to have heard before because Gold is a very thorough researcher, all the fighting and name-calling makes for a pretty cracking read.

The 9/11 Truth "community" such as it is divides along various lines. You've got your genuine fringe (and I'm sure this is offensive to somebody), you know, the hologram and space blaster people. You've got your Pentagon plane vs. missile sideshow. The thing that seems to bug Jon Gold the most is the relative popularity of controlled demolition as the "smoking gun" of choice for many people. So there's a rift I hadn't really been aware of: people who obsess over arguing that the building collapses were obviously controlled demolitions, vs. people (like Jon) who say hey, that's a theory, let's stick to known facts. (Then the first group would say hey man, we do have facts, and the argument would go on from there and spiral downwards until somebody loses by virtue of Godwin's Law.)

It's enough to make you want to stay very private with your own paranoid theories and avoid communities altogether.

Anyway, Jon's a very straightforward writer, a very honest one it seems to me, and he doesn't try to claim he's always been the role model or always been right. He does claim to have learned a few things the hard way along the road. This is not the book to read if you're looking for the definitive case for an alternative view of 9/11. It's not organized that way, although it's sprinkled with interesting facts. No, you read this to get a sense of what it's like for an average concerned citizen to try making a difference out there on the front lines.

I'd recommend it for "veterans" of 9/11 analysis who are ready for a retrospective, and also for anyone who thinks "Truthers" are a bunch of nut jobs. I've had enough conversations in my life to know that people changing their minds is rare. But hey, take the glimpse. Get to know Jon and see if you don't think this is a decent guy trying to do the decent and honorable thing.

This book outlines the need for further investigation surrounding an event that has changed the whole political system in our country, without taking us down the road of absurd speculation. Jon gives a list of known facts and instances where the people who could have investigated and should have , did not .He strongly advocates for the victims and our Right to know what really happened. You won't find any support for unproven theories or conspiracies and you may be disappointed if that's what you're looking for.Jon explains how these theories have contributed to the marginalising of the call for investigations and only serves those who are not interested in facts. But don't worry it's still rich in intrique and has the faint arroma of a cloak and dagger novel written devoid of fiction, but packed with links and citation.

How does one endeavor to describe the life of a 9/11 Truther?

The introduction by Gold's now bff, Cindy Sheehan gives the reader insight into not only Gold's life story, but almost more importantly, Sheehan's experience with so many in the movement--who endlessly barrage her with their off-putting behavior. However, America's favorite Gold Star Mother describes how Jon Gold's gentle and practical approach to the subject not only made her want to eventually champion actions like NYCCAN but also fostered their friendship which is symbiotic for peace, truth and justice.

Jon Gold's story begins as an "everyman's" tale...a son of a Philadelphian educator, from a broken home, bounced between his mother in New Jersey and father in Pennsylvania with a fascination for superheroes... Frankly, one could hardly describe a more 'normal' broken-family American life. Then, on September 11, 2001, Gold recalls what many on that day felt. Being moved as he was, on the night of 9/11, Gold made a beautiful picture of the New York skyline with the twin towers faded out and the caption, "God Bless The Firemen, The Police, The Port Authority, and The Families That Said Goodbye On 9/11".

Like many Americans, Gold had never followed world events, but for the months that followed that horrible day, Gold was glued to the news and believed the reports--that there were absolutely no warnings for 9/11. Gold was happy when we finally retaliated in our war with Afghanistan. However, by January of 2002, Gold read in disbelief that George W. Bush personally asked then Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle to limit the scope of the congressional investigation into the attacks of 9/11. He was further confounded when, then Vice President Dick Cheney made the same request of Daschle. As a result, Gold began to look at 9/11 related news a little more closely. By May of 2002, the PDB (Presidential Daily Briefing) entitled, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the US" was leaked to the media and along with the story of unusually large amount of put-options of American Airlines stock (which again suggested foreknowledge--and the stonewalling of any investigation into who placed them) Gold was furious. He started looking further into the 9/11 and found that the original story of there having been "absolutely no warnings" looked more and more dubious. After sending local media outlets "leads" concerning the families' 441-day struggle for a 9/11 investigation as well as letters to his Representatives, he grew frustrated with the outright ignoring and at best, form letters he received in response.

There are many well-meaning 9/11 Truthers who talk about their "theories", but Gold never ventures into such treacherous territory because from the day itself to over eleven years later, Jon Gold's tireless work has been to honor "the firemen, the police and the families that said goodbye on 9/11". Although the 9/11 Commission Report was billed as the full account of what happened that day, testimony of whistle blowers such as Sibel Edmonds and the third building's complete collapse (Building 7) never even received so much as a footnote in the 571-page lie. The 'definitive report' even had the nerve to say that the source of funding the 9/11 attacks was of "little practical significance". The terrible price of 2977 souls that the 9/11 victims' families paid on that day for our government's unbelievable failures deserves nothing less than a full independent forensic investigation and accountability--including criminal prosecution. The families have gotten none of this from our government, but as Gold documents in 200 plus pages of the tireless research, court cases, media articles, public outreach efforts, and civil disobedience actions for truth, accountability and justice of this one 9/11 Truther, it has not been for lack of trying.

About the Author

Stuart McGill, PhD, is a professor at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and a world-renowned lecturer and expert in spine function, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. He has written more than 300 scientific publications on lumbar function, mechanisms of low back injury, investigation of rehabilitation programs matched to specific categories of back pain patients, and the formulation of work-related injury avoidance strategies. He has received several awards for his work, including the Volvo Bioengineering Award for Low Back Pain Research from Sweden.

McGill has been an invited lecturer at many universities and delivered more than 300 addresses to societies around the world. As a consultant, he has provided expertise on assessment and reduction of the risk of low back injury to government agencies, corporations, professional athletes and teams, and legal firms. He is one of the few scientists who, in addition to performing research, is regularly requested by the medical profession to consult with challenging patients from around the world.

Suckered again by Amazon's Kindle version of a book that needs to be rendered in a usable format.
The skin says it delivers external content - it doesn't.
The images are too small to read.
The product is available on other sites using a functional reader and access to external content.

Never again - flat text books are fine for Amazon they can't deliver a usable product unless it is just print.

I am a parent who does not know anything about Minecraft. I bought the book for my Minecraft addicted seven year old. The bonus for me was the discovery that the author is a high school-er who is home-schooled! My seven year old found it somewhat useful, but he complained that is did not apply to certain editions of Minecraft. I forget which one, but he is the video game guy, not me. I am extremely impressed that a homeschooling kid wrote the book. I am homeschooling my son, so I'm always pleased to see such intelligence from the home school community on display.

I am very pleased to have purchased this guide from one of our future's brightest.

Minecraft for Dummies

I bought this book for my 8 year old grandson. I had bought the game for computer and he was having problems figuring out how to build some things. It was so funny when the book came in and I gave it to him he was insulted because it said for dummies. He said I am not a dummy. I explained to him it did not mean he was dumb, but it was easy enough for anyone to understand. After that he was okay with it. He has taken the book and looked at the pictures and built things that looked really close to the pictures in the book. He loves the game.

I still dont get it

My kids are obsessed with Minecraft. I bought this book so that I could try to understand the game. Unfortunately, I still don't get it. I offered the book to my kids and they said they didn't need to read it because they already know everything they need to know. I think kids these days are born natural gamers. I guess I'll just stick to reading books for fun and avoid the games.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) provides education and practice management services for orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals. The Academy also serves as an advocate for improved patient care and informs the public about the science of orthopaedics. Kindle version has Serious errors

I just started reading and was first surprised to see small typographic errors like "elleclive perlormance lime" in a book that I thought should be inscrutable. Just now I read a paragraph describing that "cerebral blood vessels respond to the decrease in carbon dioxide by vasodilation." I don't know if I should keep reading and risk that I am getting a compromised text. I suggest you not invest in this book until the publisher revisits it and corrects problems in the next edition.Critical Care Transport

Must Buy for the CCTechnician

Recently used CCT text for my Florida DOT aircrew course. The text covers, in depth, a miriad of critical care subjects. It is the most recent standard for critical care transport review used by Nurses, Medics, and Respiratory therapists. AAOS has published an essential text that I use for daily reference in my work as a paramedic.

Took FP C through military and passed using this book solely

I just took the FPC about 2 months ago with only a month to study for it I used this book and was able to pass everything that was on the test was covered in this book. Overall the content is pretty digestible may take some time to understand.
