Useful information for beginners and experts alike

This book goes far beyond what you can find in the normal array of online resources like axure.com. It provides a number of recipes for key mobile-specific topics such as dynamic panel prototypes. Honestly, the section on setting up your prototype for different device types may be worth the price of the book by itself.

In addition to the great Axure resources, the author provides links and references to more general topics in design, both mobile and general. For example, if you have noticed the grid setup in Axure but aren't quite sure what to do with it, this book provides the information on how to use grids in Axure and links to great resources on how and why to design with grids.

The second edition has been completely updated for Axure 7.

Essential for anyone doing mobile prototyping seriously

I've been using Axure for almost 7 years and can safely say that there are not many things that I haven't been able to prototype with it. Whether it's B2B big data dashboard, responsive sites or mobile apps, the tool has been a trusty helper!

As such it is as powerful as your skills to use it.

While I didn't think there'd be much to learn for me still, this book has provided me with useful insights and tricks that have improved my mobile prototyping.

As a UX designer I strongly believe that interacting with your designs is always better than reading about them in PDF and this book has helped me to improve my designs.

While some things might be a little too advanced for the casual user, I think it's essential reading for anyone using Axure for mobile prototyping.

AWESOME Axure book! Very well written, and extremely informative.

For most of my 15+ years of my UX career, I have used an array of wire framing tools. In recent years I started using Axure. For the most part I have generally 'hacked' my way through in terms of using the product to make it do what I need to represent. I have however longed to find the patience and discipline to read a book that can step-by-step guide me, with contextual examples. This book has arrived in my career with impeccable timing. I'm not only trying to more effectively learn to utilize Axure, but I also need to get more knowledgable on doing mobile prototyping. The author has effectively layered levels of information starting from fundamentals, such as mobile phone basic that are useful in weighing in design considerations. Within each chapter, the author provides relevant and very useful references in the footer to help pull together numerable tacit concepts and guidelines, such as references to mobile HIGS (Human Interface Guidelines). Additionally, the book lays out how to set up Axure, which is useful if you are new to prototyping for different mobile form factors. The systematic way in which the author provides guidelines is refreshing. The author's writing style flows well, with excellent UX hints and best-practice suggestions weaved in throughout each chapter as relevant to the topic. Having gone through the book once, I now plan on dissecting and applying the guidelines to prototype for a mobile device. I feel like this book as removed the intimidation factor, and makes the process appear less daunting. I highly recommend this book, and can't wait to dig deeper to refine my Axure mobile skills!

Marc isn't just great art he has the narrative chops

If Will Elder and Geof Darrow gave birth to a next generation underground artist with a fine art sensibility, then you might begin to describe the genius of Marc Bell. Primed by the stunning art of Hot Potatoes and prepped by Pure Pajamas, I still wasn't convinced that Marc could pull off a full length narrative. I was so wrong. At first I was a little concerned about the slightly stripped down art. I had grown used to the wonderfully complex art and type mix that made him so engaging, but once I started reading, I became a true believer. It's amazing consistency and great reading flow made for an unstoppable and thoroughly great experience. His sense of the real world mixed with surreal elements is as unique as reading Jim Woodring. I'm now re-reading Pure Pajamas and looking for my copy of Shrimpy and Paul just so I can keep capturing the feeling.

Waste of trees, waste of time, waste of money

I'm game for absurd and nonsensical, but not for boring. This is extremely boring. No story, no characters, no nothing. The weak drawings become totally tiresome after a few pages. This is a pathetic attempt at coolness which I didn't even finish. If you want to buy a book that you'll never read again, go ahead.

As she does so, she offers provocative new insights into how gender, health, age, illness, and medical treatment intersected with trauma and violence transformed human beings into the most commercially sought commodity for over four centuries.
